2011 NFL Wild Card Weekend – Results

Wholly cow the Broncos beat the Steelers. What in the world was that?! Well, it was the only game I lost for the weekend at least. I’m fairly sure the Broncos won’t do that next week-end in New England. But those picks are still to come.

NFL Wildcard Week

I’m late posting. Thanks to the really seriously tight race for mediocrity in the AFC West, I discovered a bug in my spreadsheets that handle tie breakers. Apparently the Devil IS in the details, because my spreadsheet told me Tebow ain’t going to the playoffs.

Getting that bug fixed didn’t help me or Tebow. Yeah he’s going to the playoffs, one game, then home. And I flagged one good bet. Thanks for nothing Brees, why couldn’t you just be happy with a 20 point win? So much for the under bet.

As I indicated, there was one good bet, that the NO game would go under. And thanks to 20-20 hindsight, you can see that I blew it.

Sean Payton is my new favorite coach in the NFL. He’s the first one that has figured out that you don’t have to burn the clock if you just keep on scoring. Someone email this to John Fox.

2011 NFL Week 17 – Results

Well it was a great week for football and making my picks. Even the little Prince did fairly well finishing at a little above 50% for the final week of the season. And amazingly his pick the animal team to win method managed to bring him to a whopping 51% for the entire season. Wow. Who’d a thought!

For my part, I lost 2 games this week. One of which I wasn’t sad to lose because my Titans pulled off the win. Yeah! But those loses got me a 87.5% for the week. I’m a little impressed with my overall 64% for the entire season. Not bad in the scheme of things.

So here’s our results for the final week of the season.

NFL Week 17

More good news and bad news for Dallas. Good news? You don’t get killed by anybody in the playoffs. Bad news is: see you next year. Make that later this year. Much later…

In order to update my playoff predictions, I had to break the three way tie in the AFC West between Denver, Oakland and San Diego. Very tough tie breaker decision to see who sucked the most in the AFC. Denver won that one by a hair, followed by Oakland. San Diego’s reward: the number four seed in the playoffs. They won’t get any further East than Pittsburgh.

There is one good bet today, based on the notion in Vegas that Green Bay will park their A team and lose by 5 to Detroit. As a Green Bay fan, I hope that every game means something to them. I know if I had tickets to that game and they play to lose I’d probably sell them. Well, I’d think real hard about selling them.

E.W.

In the big (idiotic marketing speak) craze to “go green” the NFL should just disqualify the AFC West from the playoffs due to the amount of computing power they could save breaking a three way tie between a bunch of 500 teams. Think of the gas that will be wasted by Pittsburgh fans heading off to watch that boring playoff game.

2011 NFL Week 17 – Picks

Well it’s the final week of the regular season and there are a few toss ups to choose from. I think the determination of San Diego will carry them to a win over Oakland. I’m not positive with my pick of Green Bay over Detroit. My brain says it’s the right pick, but my gut says Detroit has a deep determination to pull out a final win today. So I’m going with Green Bay, but I’m iffy on that one. Arizona and Seattle is my other toss up. I’m picking Arizona only because they’re at home. But the little Prince is going with his bigger animal to win in the animal battle. He might be right on that pick. The last of my toss ups would be Dallas and the NY Giants. I have to go with the Giants because anyone vs Dallas is my real pick. Even when I pick Dallas to win, I’m cheering on the other team. So here’s the picks from me and the Prince. I’m some what sad the season is coming to an end. But… as of today.. 56 Days to the Daytona 500! Yes!

2011 NFL Week 16 – Results

It wasn’t a bad week considering the passion teams are playing with as we come down to the end of the season. Green Bay woke up and realized they actually have to play to win a game. Glad to see that. Also glad to see New Orleans pull out a great season. Not to mention..wasn’t it great for Drew Brees to break the single season most yards thrown record on a final touchdown pass?! Congrats to him and the Saints for making the record books on what was a great pass and wonderful celebration!

Still no good bets.

E.W.

I went to a party where they played Dirty Santa. One of the gifts was a cast iron Fluer-de-lis which we all assumed was a weapon. I warned the people who got it that, while it would protect them from all manner of beasts, such as Bears, Jaguars, Panthers, Colts, Lions, Falcons, even Pirates and Vikings and mythical creatures like Giants and Titans, that it would offer no protection whatsoever from Rams.

2011 NFL Week 16 – Picks

Ok..so we have a game on Thursday; is it just me or is the coverage on NFL truly the worst in the world? Most games are on Saturday and Sunday’s game might really be interesting. Though I do expect New Orleans to win, I think Atlanta will give them a run for it. But who knows if the Twilight Zone will extend into this week.

The Prince is sticking with his animal wins theme. It served him better last week than my method..which isn’t really a method. But here are our picks.

2011 NFL Week 15 – Results

It was football in the twilight zone. Which basically means we had a terrible week!

How in the world did some of these teams win? There’s no other explanation than..the harmonics of the Universe turn around and flew in the opposite direction. Buffalo lost to Miami IN Buffalo? Huh?  Indianapolis really beat the Titans? And where has San Diego been all year? This reminds me of stepping it up at the end to take it all like Tony Stewart did during the final 10 races of the Chase.
