NFL Week 13 Results & Week 14 Picks

Spring and The Prince Review The Games of the Week

Wasn’t a bad week for me. 10 of 16 games, that’s about 63%. And let me say that’s a better weekly average than some professional commentators and their picks last week. So I’m happy with that. And that’s also my season average so far as well. Not bad for a ‘girl’.  The Prince however, well he’s got some work to do. But one thing he has on his side is loyalty. He’s bound and determined to make his picks by his which animal is bigger method. I’m trying to teach him about statistics and injury reports. He listens, but still goes back to his animal loyalty.

So last week’s results were interesting. I’m ecstatic that my Skins won Monday night against the Giants. And I’m not the only fan who was pleased as punch! One of the Redskins most famous fans was also thrilled to no end. So much so that he even put his emotions into words and it was printed by ESPN with an introduction by Marty Smith. Even if you’re just a fan of the NFL and not a Skins fan, you should still read the article. It captures the emotions of any die-hard fan for their favorite team. Check it out: Dale Jr.: Why I Love the Redskins. Continue reading

Daytona Shootout Entries for 2013

2013 Shootout – February 16 on FOX

3-Time Sprint Cup Champion
Tony Stewart

73 days until the Daytona Shootout! But hours after  the checkered flag dropped on the 2012 running of the Daytona  Shootout,  NASCAR announced new eligibility standards for the 2013 race. Back in February 2012  posted details about the changes on The New Eligibility Rules.

The biggest change the rules put on the 2013 running is the return to pole winners and previous Shootout winners only. While many applaud this return to the old school, it means the current Cup Champion is not eligible to participate. Many Brad Keselowski fans are upset about that. But this isn’t the first time the Cup Champion hasn’t participated in the shoot out. The last time that happened was 2004 when 2003 Cup Champion Matt Kenseth was excluded from the shootout race.

That’s not the only change people are talking about. It doesn’t seem right not to call the shootout by it’s old familiar title “The Budweiser Shootout”. But Budweiser no longer sponsors the shootout. They do sponsor the Duels which will be held February 21, 2013 on Speed.

The 2013 Shootout Entries.

22 Drivers are eligible to participate in the 2013 Daytona  Shootout.
As of February 12th, 2013; 19 Drivers have signed up to race the renamed Sprint Unlimited race. For us however, it will always be the Shootout!

NFL Week 13

Sir Evil’s Picks

Well the computer figured on the Lions eating the Texans but it looks like Texans like Lions for dinner. Hear they taste just like everything else the Texans have eaten.

For Dallas fans, I got good news and bad news. Good news! You will not have the crap beat out of you by the Bears in the playoffs. Bad news: If you are there at all, you will be safely in the stands watching the game.

2012 Nascar Sprint Cup Champions Week

Fast Forward Through The Awards

We’ve watched all the Nascar Award shows that have been televised. We learned a few years ago to record them and fast forward through the boring or uninteresting parts. Last night’s show was no exception and only made me more appreciative of the fast forward button.

I like Howie as a stand-up comedian. As a host of an award show, he was unimpressive and some of his antics truly took away from the ‘class’ that was shown by others during the evening. That was very disappointing.

In his article Nascar Awards Banquet:Thoughts On The Ceremony, Jeff Gluck mentions “..the evening became more TV-focused in recent years, it took a significant move toward that direction with a new format debuted Friday night at the Wynn in Las Vegas.

I can understand the need to break up the evening in sections for viewers. However, being a viewer means you’re not in Vegas to take in the sights and sounds of the week. I would have been much happier with a fuller replay of the events that occurred during the week. Such as more tape from Are Nascar Drivers Smarter Than A Fifth Grader. I would have liked to have seen more of Tony’s push-up contest with Rutledge Wood, and how about the Car Parade and burn outs on the Vegas Strip? Continue reading

NFL Week 12 Results & Week 13 Picks

Spring and The Prince Make Their Picks

Wasn’t such a bad week, except my laptop died. Other than that, I got 10 out of 16 games and I’m happy with that. I’m still not sure how some of these guys won their games considering who they were up against.

How in the world did Miami beat Seattle? Did the Seahawks forget to get on the plane or something? And what happened to the Saints? They were sloppy, unfocused and looked as if they were playing on jet lag. All in all, even with those losses, I’m happy with the week.

Here are our results from Week 12 Continue reading

2012 – NFL Week 11 Results & 12 Picks

Spring and The Prince Make Their Picks

Happy Thanksgiving one and all. May your table be filled with abundance, Joy and Love all the year and through this holiday season!

Woohoo!!! What a week 11!! I lost 1 game, thanks to the Jets killing St. Louis! But I guess I can live with that! The Prince didn’t do so bad. He’s still at 50% which is better than his previous years of picking games.

This past week he received an award for making the Honor Roll at school. I have no doubt that as time goes by and he becomes more interested in sports that his picks will become better.

Week 11 Results
Until then, here’s our results from last week. Continue reading

NFL Week 12

Evil’s Picks and Results

Got 9 games, but gambling went into the crapper.

Noticed the Texans did their best to feed the kitties. But in the end, they finally cut them into steaks and roasted them. Today they will probably have some bigger kitties instead of turkey.

Since last week the prediction for the Superbowl has changed. Atlanta goes, Green Bay doesn’t. For the few weeks before that favor shifted ever so slightly from Green Bay to New England. Now the computer says the Pats will beat Atlanta.

NFL Week 11

Evil’s Week 11 Picks

I don’t wanna talk about week 10. That week is dead to me.

If the Texans don’t slow down their eating habits they’re going to need Jenny Craig… er wait, forget that idea, they’d probably actually eat her too. So far they’ve had dolphin (hear it tastes just like chicken), jaguar, bronco, greek god (tastes just like ambrosia which I understand is a lot like a hotdog), jet aircraft, raven, buffalo and the rider and now bear. Hope they liked jaguar because they get a second helping this week.

Feeling Down About The Last Race Of The Season?

Daytona 500 Trophy

Daytona 500 Trophy

There’s Only 100 Days To Daytona!

Next season isn’t that far away. So if you’re already feeling let down that your driver isn’t competing for a title, start counting now for next year.

The next Daytona 500 will be Tony Stewart’s 501st start. He has won several times at Daytona in the summer series. But he has never taken home the trophy from the 500.

He’ll start the year with a new primary sponsor, Bass Pro Shops for the #14 Chevy. Ryan Newman will be back in the #39 with Quicken Loans. And Stewart-Haas Racing will field a 3rd car for Spring Cup, with Danica Patrick in the GoDaddy car.

Of course Dale Jr will also be back in his #88 Chevy with Hendrick. Trevor Bayne will be running a full-time schedule in Nationwide and a limited schedule in Cup. Continue reading

NFL Week 10 Resutls – 11 Picks

Spring & The Prince Share Their Picks

Wasn’t a bad week last Sunday. While I’m ecstatic that the Saints beat Atlanta, I’m also very surprised. I really thought the Falcons would go a little farther being undefeated. They’re awesome this season, but as I mentioned last week, I think New Orleans found their soul again! I’m very happy about that!

On the other side of that was Dallas winning in Philadelphia. I really expected the Eagles to play a whole lot better at home than they did. They looked sloppy, confused and out of sync. That game was very disappointing.

Then there’s the Rams and 49’ers. How in the world did San Francisco not win that game? And for it to end in a tie was equally surprising. Simply wow.

So here are our results for Week 10. Continue reading
